Description Of User Fines & Penalties

Failure to renew prior to 30 days – $25.00 late fee
Failure to renew past 60 days – $50.00 reinstatement fee
Violation
Beginning with the third false alarm at one Alarm Site – Municipal Infraction – Fine $50.00
Any false alarm occurring 12 months after a violation is considered a subsequent violation, (second through sixth false alarm violation) – Municipal Infraction – Fine $100.00
Any subsequent offense thereafter – Municipal Infraction – Fine $200.00
Any Person, operating or monitoring a non-registered Alarm System (whether suspended or never acquired), will be subject to a municipal infraction citation and assessment of a $250.00 fine for each day the Alarm System remains unregistered, in addition to any other fees or fines.
Unless otherwise provided, any violation of the Ordinance, including non-payment of an administrative fee – Municipal Infraction – Fine $100.00
Second violation within one year – Municipal Infraction – Fine $200.00

Cancellation Policy

If Cancellation occurs prior to law enforcement arriving on the scene, this is not a False Alarm for the purpose of this Ordinance.

Verification Policy

(As described in the City Ordinance): Verify means an attempt, by the Alarm Company, or its representative, to contact the Alarm Site by telephonic or other electronic means, whether or not actual contact with a Person is made, before requesting law enforcement dispatch, in an attempt to avoid unnecessary Alarm Dispatch Request.

Description and Comments

The purpose of the Alarm Registration Ordinance is to encourage Alarm Users and Alarm Companies to properly use and maintain the operational effectiveness and proper utilization of Alarm Systems and to reduce or eliminate False Alarms which may unduly divert law enforcement from responding to criminal activity.
