FARA Model Alarm Ordinance

Model Alarm Ordinance

This Model Alarm Ordinance has been prepared to assist public safety and the alarm industry in enacting comprehensive, proven alarm management ordinances.

FARA Guide To Alarm Ordinances

The FARA Guide to Alarm Ordinances is designed to assist in the reduction and management of false alarms.

We hope to provide an overview of specific items to consider when addressing your false alarm problem.

It is designed to explain provisions of the Model Alarm Ordinance as well as highlight options that a local jurisdiction should consider when adopting or revising their local ordinance

FARA Model Fee Resolution

Some jurisdictions will specify the fines and fees in the text of the ordinance; others will adopt fines and fees by a separate resolution.

Adopting fines and fees separately allows the locality to change fines and fees without reconsidering the entire ordinance.

SIA – CP01 Standard

This standard details recommended design features for security system control panels and their associated arming and disarming devices to reduce the incidence of false alarms.

These features are applicable to both residential and commercial properties protected by an electronic security system.

FARA Standard For Smoke Emitting Devices

Provides a standard that can be incorporated into a local alarm ordinance for a Smoke Emitting Device:

A machine specifically constructed to be triggered/activated by an intruder detection system that, when activated, produces a dense smoke, fog or vapor to reduce visibility in the protected area.
